As a musician he is more of a generalist than a specialist because in addition to composing he develops a whole range of activities: playing both the violin and the viola, choral conducting and playing the church organ as well. As a composer he practices mainly chamber music because it offers the greatest potential for concerts in which he participates as a performer. He has also composed some fifteen arts songs on Dutch texts, an unjustly neglected genre of contemporary music.
