Kris Oelbrandt (1972) is a master with high distinction in music notation (1996) and graduate with distinction from the Queen Elisabeth College of Music (2001). In 2000 he won the Muizelhuisconcerten Composition Contest and in 2010 he became laureate of the International Weimarer Frühjahrstage für zeitgenössische Musik with his violin concerto Concert Rhapsody.
Since May 15 2002, Kris Oelbrandt entered the abbey of Maria Toevlucht in the Netherlands, where he combines his trappist life of work and prayer with his compositional activities.
